Top Employers Meet Potential Candidates at TalentCorp’s Sector Focused Career Fair

SKUDAI, 14 October 2014 – Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) continues the successful run of its Sector Focused Career Fair (SFCF) series by hosting an SFCF for the engineering sector at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

In line with TalentCorp’s objective to enhance graduate employability, this joint effort between TalentCorp and UTM focuses on the University’s extensive engineering programme and their active role in innovation and technology.

The event, officiated by YBhg Prof Datuk Ismail Ibrahim, CEO of Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA), is held from 14-15 October at Dewan Sultan Iskandar, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor.

"TalentCorp’s role to connect top employers and institutes of higher learning such as SFCF UTM provides a platform to help our young graduates become industry ready. This is in line with YAB Prime Minister’s mandate in the recent Budget 2015 speech for TalentCorp working together with the Ministry of Education to further build greater industry-academia linkages," said Johan Mahmood Merican, CEO of TalentCorp.

The SFCF UTM will see the participation of more than fifty top companies such as Schneider Electric, U Mobile, SP Setia, Jobstreet.com, Prasarana, MDEC, Hong Leong Assurance, Sime Darby and Iskandar Regional Development Authority.

"We are very delighted to see the energy and enthusiasm of the participants at this career fair. A Sector Focused Career Fair like this gives employers an avenue to nurture and guide young talents to careers that will inspire and excite them, and at the same time, contribute to advancing our talent pool and nation," said Teoh Ewe Beng, HR Director from Keysight Technologies Malaysia.

The SFCF series is crucial to create awareness among undergraduates about the working environment and opportunities available in the National Key Economic Areas (NKEA).

The two-day event includes Career Talk and Coffee Talk slot. Career Talk is a platform developed for the young generation to engage with prominent industry leaders while the Coffee Talk slot was designed for the visitors, especially students, to interact with the companies in a relaxed atmosphere.
