TalentCorp Partners With Iskandar Investment To Strengthen Johor’s Workforce Through Talent-Focused Initiatives

YB Tuan Mohd Hairi bin Mad Shah, Member of the Johor State Government Meeting Council witnessed the exchange of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between TalentCorp and Iskandar Investment Berhad.

JOHOR BAHRU, 21 March – Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) today entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) to further expand their partnership strengthening Johor’s workforce through strategic talent development initiatives.

The signing ceremony which took place at the Educity Sports Complex Iskandar Puteri was witnessed by YB Tuan Mohd Hairi bin Mad Shah, Member of the Johor State Executive Council and Chairman of the Youth, Sports, Entrepreneur Development, Cooperatives and Human Resources.

In a keynote address delivered by YB Tuan Mohd Hairi on behalf of YAB Datuk Onn Hafiz bin Dato' Ghazi, Chief Minister of Johor, he said that the partnership between TalentCorp and IIB marks a significant step towards achieving Johor’s vision of becoming a world-class destination for investment, innovation, and talent.

“Through this collaboration, we can maintain Johor’s economic momentum to benefit our people especially Bangsa Johor,” he said.

The MoU between TalentCorp and IIB outlines the framework for collaboration which includes initiatives for talent identification, talent development and career planning. It also aims to enhance the engagement level between industry and academia in developing and sustaining the state's talent pool.

Thomas Mathew, Group Chief Executive Officer of TalentCorp said that TalentCorp’s role in attracting, nurturing and retaining talents in-demand by industry reduces challenges in Malaysia’s talent ecosystem, such as industry-ready talents and job mismatch.

“The placement of TalentCorp officers on a permanent basis in the Southern Region is our commitment towards establishing cooperation with the Johor State Government and stakeholders towards driving Malaysia’s development of human capital,” he said.

During the event, TalentCorp introduced the launch of the Johor-specific Critical Occupations List (MyCOL) to identify and provide information on the critical occupations in-demand in the state. The data will be used to further enhance training programmes and career pathways focusing on the talent needs of Johor.

Dato’ Idzham Hashim, President and Chief Executive Officer of IIB said that the collaboration with TalentCorp will create new opportunities for Malaysian talents to gain access to emerging tech and digital companies in Iskandar Puteri, and contribute to the state's economic growth.

“It will also support our efforts in building a strong and sustainable ecosystem in Iskandar Puteri, increasing its attraction for FDIs, DDIs via readily available talents with relevant skillsets and competencies at competitive cost,” he said.
