KESUMA and Selangor Government Partner to Strengthen Women’s Workforce Participation

SHAH ALAM, 11 March 2025 – Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp), under the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), and Wanita Berdaya Selangor, under the Selangor State Government, have formalised a partnership to enhance women’s workforce participation through the Jelajah Wanita MyWira outreach programme.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between TalentCorp and WBS was signed today at the Wanita MyWira Convention 2025, held at IDCC Shah Alam. The signing was witnessed by Selangor Chief Minister YAB Dato' Seri Amirudin Bin Shari and Minister of KESUMA YB Steven Sim Chee Keong, reinforcing their shared commitment to expanding employment and career development opportunities for women across Selangor. Also present was YB Puan Anfaal binti Saari, Selangor State Executive Council for Women Development and Social Welfare.
Speaking at the convention to an audience of 500, YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari highlighted the Selangor Government’s dedication to women’s empowerment through economic participation in line with the Selangor Women's Policy and Action Plan 2024-2026 and the First Selangor Plan (RS-1).
“This collaboration with KESUMA and TalentCorp is timely and will ensure that women in Selangor, especially those from grassroots and middle-income groups, receive the necessary support, skills, and opportunities to thrive,” he said.

Jelajah Wanita MyWira aims to provide on-ground engagement, skills-building, and workforce reintegration support for women at all levels. Running from April to November 2025, the programme will reach 56 constituencies across Selangor, connecting women with career opportunities, workforce incentives and employability programmes. Plans are also in place to expand the initiative to Penang, Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak.
Minister of KESUMA, YB Steven Sim Chee Keong said that the government is committed to bridging gender gaps in employment through Wanita MyWira, a platform for coordinating women’s empowerment initiatives under TalentCorp, including the Career Comeback Programme.
“We must ensure women have equal opportunities to rejoin and excel in the workforce. Through Jelajah Wanita MyWira, we aim to empower 1.4 million women in Selangor by providing direct access to empowerment opportunities and employment incentives under the MADANI Government,” he said.

As part of International Women’s Day 2025, TalentCorp hosted the Wanita MyWira Convention 2025, providing a platform to equip women with the skills, resources, and opportunities needed to successfully re-enter and advance in the workforce. This initiative supports the government’s goal of achieving a 60% female labour force participation rate by 2030, ensuring that women play a meaningful role in Malaysia’s economic growth.
TalentCorp Group CEO, Thomas Mathew highlighted TalentCorp’s commitment to supporting women’s workforce participation and career reintegration under the Wanita MyWira initiative.

Furthermore, we will collaborate closely with industry partners to create job placement opportunities, ensuring that women receive not just training, but also tangible pathways back into fulfilling careers.”
She highlighted that the partnership with TalentCorp is rooted in a shared vision for a more equitable and diverse working environment and called all parties to be diligent in breaking down barriers and fostering an ecosystem where women can thrive professionally.

The Wanita MyWira Convention 2025 featured career-sharing sessions, workshops on flexible work opportunities, and insights into emerging career trends. 18 exhibitors, including JobStreet, VA Asia, Mereka, and Teman Malaysia, showcased opportunities in remote work, gig work, and professional upskilling. The event also offered a resume clinic to support women looking to re-enter the workforce.
