Clarification On TalentCorp's Operating Cost
Kuala Lumpur, 18 July 2013 -- With respect to the response made by YB Datuk Sri Abdul Wahid Omar, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department at Parliament today, Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) would like to clarify that the RM65million operating cost allocated to TalentCorp is used to develop programmes to attract and nurture talent, whether they be Malaysians in Malaysia, Malaysians abroad or foreign talent, and not just for the Returning Expert Programme (REP) as reported.
TalentCorp implements up-skilling programmes for local undergraduates, supports career fairs for Malaysian students abroad and facilitates top foreign talent through its Residence Pass–Talent initiative. Therefore, it would be misleading to divide TalentCorp’s total operating cost with only the number of Malaysians approved under the REP to derive a cost per person.
