KUALA LUMPUR, August 12 — Novartis Malaysia recently received TalentCorp’s “Life At Work 2019” Award recognising the pharmaceutical company’s “outstanding practice” for its learning platform.

The Malaysian office of the Switzerland-based pharmaceutical company said its approach to learning encompassed virtual, classroom, talent exchange, mentoring, and interactive play through gamification.

The move to digital learning, said Novartis Malaysia, has been significant in making learning inclusive and empowering for all associates, with a wide range of programs, 24/7 access, user-friendly interface and user-driven learning to ensure that diverse needs, learning styles, learning settings and abilities are covered.

“This has been especially beneficial and valuable in the last few months with a majority of associates working from home due to the pandemic,” Novartis Malaysia said in a statement.

Novartis learning platforms — which include UP4Growth, access to Harvard Business Review, LinkedIn Learning and Coursera — offer a broad range of training courses.

“At Novartis, learning is prioritised and becomes more meaningful when associates use it as a developmental tool to strengthen their skills and competencies to own their career development,” said Patrik Grande, president and managing director of Novartis Malaysia.

“This recognition, coupled with the prestigious Top Employer for 2020 award, is a testament to Novartis Malaysia’s position as an Employer of Choice and our commitment to provide the best working environment for all our associates across all divisions here in Malaysia.”

Anne Heng, head of people and organisation at Novartis Malaysia, said the company believed in an “inspired, curious and ‘unbossed’ culture”.

“We aspire to live by the standards of diversity and inclusion. We want to build an equitable and inclusive workplace that values unique and curious minds, where we are all free to be our best and true selves. We seek to ensure everyone has a fair opportunity to fulfill their true potential and contribute to reimagining medicine for a better world.”

“Life At Work” is an annual event organised by the Ministry of Human Resources through its agency TalentCorp, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development.

It aims to celebrate employers with progressive workplace strategies that demonstrate their drive and commitment in championing the Diversity & Inclusion agenda by embracing the Future of Work, Workplace and Workforce.
